When to use Photoshop (and when not to)

  • Why not use text blocks in Photoshop rather than Illustrator?
    • Photoshop is a raster program! Even the type... which acts like vector...it's really a simulator
    • Magnified type in Photoshop:

      PS type Zoom
    • Magnified type in Illustrator:

      Illustrator type zoom
  • Photoshop does have four options to clear the edges with anti-aliasing...but all are raster based:

    Sharp:
    Photoshop antii aliased sharp
    Crisp:
    Photoshop anti-aliased crisp
    Strong:
    Photoshop anti-aliased crisp
    Smooth:
    Photoshop anti-aliased crisp
You may want to see the images alone in a browser window to see the subtle differences
  • Of course you could turn Anti-alias off:
Photoshop anti-aliased none ...which actually is easier to read
