  • Although newer browsers now support it...
  • It is a really bad idea (kinda like <blink>)
  • In older non-IE browsers (like Netscape 6), you get all the text smashed together
  • Looks really cheesy
  • I don't care if it is in the O'Reilly book

 

This is an example of a marquee tag. It looks simply smashing in Internet Explorer, if you like annoying crawling text. It looks really stoopid in some browsers, because you just get all the text at once.

OK, I get the point. Move on.
